Featured Product: Balco Exterior Expansion Joints
The project immediately abuts the adjacent existing Masonic House and Buckland Building which are both heritage buildings being refurbished as part of the overall project.
The ground floor of both the new hotel and the existing buildings are linked by laneways to accommodate retail and food and beverage along with the hotel entrance / front of house and the Buckland Masonic offices entrance.
The buildings are also linked at level 5 hotel / level 4 Buckland Masonic, with the new pavilion structure atop Buckland Building to be part of the hotel operations as both a guestroom and/or a function suite.
The design required profiles that were able to effectively blend the old with the new, providing minimal sight lines. PJC profiles were selected for the ample depth to incorporate custom floor finishes, and the FC-SP for custom wall and ceiling infill.Shop drawings were utilized to assist the site team with preparation for the seismic expansion joints, and so the fit out contractors knew how special finishes were to be applied.
Featured Product: Firetex FX9500 Epoxy Intumescent & FireZone 92 Fire Rated Coatings
The first project completed with FX9500 in NZ was Riverside Market in Christchurch, a Consortium Construction build.
Described as an exciting new development consisting of a 7-day-trading, indoor market, linked to a vibrant network of boutique retail, restaurants, cafes & bars - Riverside is a unique inner-city shopping experience for the local community and visitors to enjoy.
Darrell Dermott from Jeff Dermott Ltd, Zone's approved applicator on the project, worked tirelessly with on site trials to ensure the consultant's were comfortable specifying epoxy intumescent technology.
FX9500 was chosen for its durability because the robust coating system was permanently exposed without a topcoat in the basement area's.
When you are in Christchurch, this is well worth the visit. https://riverside.nz/market
Reaching Great Heights, Riverside Market,Chch
The building is a public display floor area which has 21 leasable spaces overall.
Zone Architectural Products and Jeff Dermott Ltd were engaged to provide the FRR intumescent coatings compliance on the steel structure and a Group Rating on the internal surface timber linings.
The dense reclaimed rimu timber ceiling required a Group 1S. FireZone 92 was selected as a clear coating system based off a site specific sample provided to the architect.
Darrell and his team applied Firezone 92 onsite.
The result is stunning and the shopping experience, very pleasurable!
