Balco’s EXPANSION JOINT SYSTEM was selected for THE HERITAGE REFURBISHMENT TO PROVIDE SEISMIC CERTAINTY

The project immediately abuts the adjacent existing Masonic House and Buckland Building which are both heritage buildings being refurbished as part of the overall project.

The ground floor of both the new hotel and the existing buildings are linked by lane ways to accommodate retail and food and beverage along with the hotel entrance / front of house and the Buckland Masonic offices entrance.

The buildings are also linked at level 5 hotel / level 4 Buckland Masonic, with the new pavilion structure atop Buckland Building to be part of the hotel operations as both a guestroom and/or a function suite.

The design required profiles that were able to effectively blend the old with the new, providing minimal sight lines. PJC profiles were selected for the ample depth to incorporate custom floor finishes, and the FC-SP for custom wall and ceiling infill.

Shop drawings were utilized to assist the site team with preparation for the seismic expansion joints, and so the fit out contractors knew how special finishes were to be applied.
